U.S. House District CA-42 Demographics
-
Our district has no incumbent and is an open seat, as Congressman Alan Lowenthal has retired.
-
With redistricting for the 2022 election, our district has become more ethnically diverse: the majority of the 42nd District's more than 800,000 residents are from People Of Color (POC) communities (Asian American, African American, Latino {Latinx}, Native American).
-
The district voter registration is overwhelmingly Democratic and only 19% Republican.
-
Our campaign is working hard to insure that we will be one of the top two vote getters in the June 7 Primary Election, which will guarantee us a place on the November 8 General Election ballot.
Peter Mathews, Professor of U.S. Government and International Relations, is running for Congress in California's 42nd U.S. Congressional District.
